| Up and Coming Evenings: Thursday July 2, 2009: Young Runaways All the members of Young Runaways are originally from our own Black Country city of Wolverhampton. Their songs speak of some of the people, places and experiences they shared growing up together. Young Runaways came about as primary songwriters Phillips and Pinfield began writing a deluge of new songs. The band today is the crystallisation of nearly a decade of friendship between the band members, who have been through school and university together. A shared interest in British beat bands and giant vocal harmonies has influenced their sound, along with years of playing together in dusty attics. Young Runaways were selected for the final showcase of the Glastonbury New Talent competition. Last summer Young Runaways made their Glastonbury debut, playing the Leftfield Stage. They also have a new record which is due for release in Spring 2009. Have a listen now on their My Space site at www.myspace.com/youngrunaways |
